Hotel Relais dei Normanni

Nice spa atmosphere.

There’s a lot of room here, both inside and outside, though the property is a little dated. The gardens are kept nicely, and at this time of year the broom and jasmine scents drift through the spaces and make them lovely. The views are stunning. Our suite had a sitting area, table and chairs, a big bedroom, a walk-in closet next to it, a furnished terrace facing the castle, and a large bathroom with a roomy shower. Staff were helpful and quick to sort out any issues. The spa was clean, well run and excellent value. Breakfast had plenty of sweet and savory choices, though the savory side could be better. The dining room team were always friendly and helpful. The front desk manager is sincere and really puts guests first, doing what he can to make the stay enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Our Smartbox covered two nights for two, breakfast and two entries to the spa. We were upgraded at no charge to a room overlooking the Norman castle, with a large bathroom and a hydromassage shower. The spa has hydromassage pools and saunas, and there’s covered parking. Breakfast was a buffet with lots of sweet and savory items, and the wait staff were very kind and friendly.

The location is convenient for the castle and Basilica of San Michele, and parking was easy. The spa is nicely designed, and the rooms were clean, though quite basic. Our bathroom was fully equipped but small and awkward to use. The multifunction shower was uncomfortable even for someone slim. There’s a terrace facing the castle, but it’s shared by the whole hotel, so you need to keep the balcony door closed for privacy. Breakfast is at Hotel Palace San Michele next door, which means going over there. We had a good stay overall.
