Bed & Breakfast San Firmano

Main country, very clean.

We spent a night in this wonderful B&B, right in the heart of Montelupone, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, beside the Abbey of San Firmano. The hosts were so friendly and kind that we felt at home straight away. Inside, it has the feel of a little mountain chalet, with doors, furniture, and small decorative pieces carefully chosen and restored one by one. There are also several high-quality restaurants within an easy five-minute drive.

I do want to suggest this hotel. After I reviewed my stay, they responded in good faith, like a true gentleman, and even offered to fix a mistake that most likely wasn’t theirs. I can confirm I wasn’t charged for the room, either. I had booked a room for the night of December 7th, when there were lots of people around. The confirmation specifically said there was no need to call the hotel, so I normally wouldn’t have called with a reservation number in hand. For some reason I did call on December 7th, and it turned out the room wasn’t available. It was 8:00 PM, and with a small child I was stressed, feeling stranded in the street. Luckily I found another place, though it cost twice as much. When I later got in touch with the property, which was always reachable any day, I learned that from December 5, 2023 it would be unavailable until February, after they had signed a long-term contract with business travelers. I understand that one night may be worth less than three months of insurance, but being a gentleman or a lady still matters. If it doesn’t, then the law should deal with it. Thank you.

For the price, this B&B is excellent: comfortable and charming, and set in a quiet area. There’s a little park with a children’s playground, plus a bar and small supermarket nearby. The owner is very friendly. A great option if you need to stay around here, close to the Regina road (Helvia Recina), which links the main towns from Macerata to Porto Recanati.
