Montelupone Bed & Breakfast

The mystery tour of Montelupone was a highlight for us. Ludovico, the history-loving son, runs these creative activities that mix theater, history, and mystery, and it was fun for everyone. We took our dogs along too. His father was always happy to suggest places to see and routes to take, and his mother and the rest of the staff were so kind. They checked that we had what we needed and even left water in our room every day. We stayed in a roomy triple room in this family-run B&B, with a single bed, a double bed, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. There was plenty of space for three of us and our two dogs. The old building's character comes through in the decor, though we thought a few newer touches might make it more appealing. Breakfast was fresh, and the staff were helpful with requests. There's also an arrangement with the bar across the street if you'd rather eat breakfast there, and the croissants were outstanding. Downstairs, the restaurant "La taverna dell'artista" serves delicious slow food. The owners care a lot about the local area and promoting the village. We really recommend staying here if you like a simple, convivial, family atmosphere.

The bed was very comfortable, the room was spotless, and the price felt like very good value. The owners and staff were welcoming, and breakfast was excellent. Dinner is also a great option if you're staying, with excellent local food. This is more of a tavern than a B&B, set in an old house from the late 1700s with just a few rooms. Getting to the sleeping area means using an old, rather cluttered staircase. My room was very large and had an original decorated ceiling, probably from the 19th century, though it wasn't in great shape. The bathroom had been added later and has no window, with the sink and tub in the same space. The rooms face onto a hallway, so it can get noisy if people stop there to chat at night. That happened to me.

The town is beautiful, and the food was excellent. The owners were very kind, and the rooms felt like stepping back in time. They were also really nice and clean, with a very welcoming feel. Highly recommended.
