Il Castagno

Right at the entrance to the village, the property is handy for visiting Montemonaco or catching the shuttle to the Sibilla refuge. Our room was clean and had everything we needed, and breakfast brought a generous spread of sweet options, including delicious homemade cakes. Savory breakfast is available if you ask. The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive.

The room was very hot, and since it faces the street, there was no getting away from that. There’s no air conditioning. The courtyard was full of feces, which we noticed as soon as we arrived with our dogs and their bags ready for cleanup. We don’t like poop in the city, and even less in Montemonaco. The staff were very friendly, and the savory breakfast we requested was excellent, especially the ham.

We only spent one night here, mainly so the kids could play in the snow and sled down the slopes. Even though it hadn’t snowed for 15 days and the snow was icy, they had a great time. The room was spotless and had all the amenities, and the B&B itself was lovely. Breakfast was just right, with both sweet and savory choices. We felt at home thanks to the lady who welcomed us so warmly and kindly. We had a great stay, recommend it, and will be back.

Montemonaco made a great base for relaxing and exploring the towns and villages of Monti Sibillini National Park. The village is an easy walk away, with shops selling local delicacies and a shuttle that goes up to 1,540 meters. We spent seven days at "Il Castagno" and found everything clean, well organized, and very well kept. The comfortable rooms were spotless, and the owners were extremely kind, always around to help and happy to meet our requests. Breakfast was superb, with sweet and savory food, including delicious homemade cakes and cookies. Having a little room where snacks and drinks were always available was a great idea.
