Casa Burraia

We picked it after being drawn in by the online photos and reviews, and at this point it's hard not to wonder whether those reviews are fake, or whether the owners have neglected the farmhouse while keeping the price high and giving little thought to guests. The location is excellent, the place is quiet, and the farmhouse looks lovely from outside. Inside, though, dust, mold, and a lack of hygiene hit you right away. The bathroom fittings were dirty, rusty, and worn out; the blankets were thick with dust, and mold had blackened the walls. We won't even describe the condition of the unused area you still have to walk through at the entrance. The website makes everything look spotless and perfect. For what we paid, we could have stayed at a four-star hotel with all amenities included. There is no swimming pool, just a hole covered with a tarp and filled with putrid rainwater. When we asked for an explanation and a discount for the conditions we found, we were told the owners had connections that let them do as they please. They also refused to issue an invoice. I sincerely hope the farmhouse is improved or future guests are treated with more consideration. It's a shame to write such a negative review about a charming town like Montepulciano.

The structure is beautiful but seems a bit abandoned and needs renovation. The rooms were dusty and badly cleaned, especially the bathrooms. There were crawling insects in the ground-floor bedroom, so bring insecticide if you stay there. Watch out for centipedes.

I loved the calm, relaxing feel of this place, surrounded by the Tuscan countryside. It’s family-run, and they were happy to accommodate our requests. I’ll definitely come back.
