Albergo Degli Amici

The garden and terrace have incredible views, and breakfast came with a good range of choices each day. Our room was a decent size, with windows on two sides and a small balcony overlooking the street. Hotel Amici is a lovely little hotel in Monterosso's old town, which we thought was the best place to stay in Cinque Terre. It was perfect for us.

The rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable, and the location was perfect. Breakfast was good, the usual hotel kind. We were amazed at how far the rooftop garden seemed to go. This was easily our favorite hotel on our Italy trip.

Breakfast had a much wider range of food than at the other hotels we booked around Italy. The Filipino staff were wonderful, very welcoming, and did a great job preparing it.

Getting here from the train station was a tough walk, with cobblestones and lots of stairs. There was no way to move ourselves and our luggage except to carry it. If you're not backpacking or have mobility issues, I'd look elsewhere. My wife hurt her back, and when we asked about options, the service replied but wasn't much help. We did spot a couple of taxis, so some options existed. Service during our stay felt uninspired too. The hotel is cute, central, and has a pretty good breakfast. Rooms were clean, and some on the fourth floor have views. The beds were very hard, though the air conditioning worked and the water was hot with great pressure. The walls let through just about every sound, including kids banging next door. We used white noise on our phone. We've stayed in much worse places, but we wouldn't book here next time we're in Cinque Terre.
