The hosts paid close attention to us, shared all the information we needed to make the most of our stay, and even took our food intolerance into account. The house itself is welcoming, well cared for, and has every comfort. We highly recommend it.

What gives this charming, well-maintained place its unusual feel is the house across the quiet side street, where an elderly nun from Basilica lives. For hours at a time she plays church TV loudly, adding to the religious mood that seems to hang over the whole old town. At night, there's the lit statue of the Virgin Mary down in the valley and the imposing bell tower nearby. You could almost start believing in omens. The accommodation is at the edge of the historic center.

This clean, welcoming apartment is in a small town about 30 minutes from Matera. Parking is a bit awkward because the street ends in a dead end, but there's a space directly in front of the entrance.

We were there from 11/02/2018 to 13/02/2018 and found the place really nice and clean. The owner was completely available to us. If you're visiting Montescaglioso for carnival or any other reason, I recommend staying here. It's worth it.
