Hotel Excelsior

The receptionist was really friendly, and the room was clean, decent, and had what we needed from a budget hotel. We stopped here at the last minute on the way south from Milan because the drive was too much for our five-month-old. But the mattress was awful. Springs dug into our backs and we barely slept, so we left at 5am. If the baby hadn't been asleep, I would have asked to change rooms or left sooner. I hope they replace those mattresses. Guests shouldn't have to sleep on beds in that condition.

I expected a great hotel and vacation, so I'm really angry about how it went. The rooms were cold and dirty, and the air conditioning didn't work. Staff first told us they'd tidy things up and that it would be running at 6pm. At 6 it still wasn't working. When we asked again, they said 9pm, but it still didn't work then either.

The beach is only a three-minute walk away, and there's free bike rental and parking when there are spaces. For the price, the hotel is fair, though the building feels a bit dated. We asked twice to have the room's AC fixed, and were told it had been done, but it still didn't work. Luckily it was 27 degrees while we were there, not 35.

The location is nice, but finding the hotel was difficult because the sign isn't clear, and Google sends you somewhere else. Parking was shown as included in the app, yet staff told us it was full. They barely understood us unless we spoke the local language.
