Hotel Promenade

The beach staff made what should have been a quiet, relaxing afternoon stressful. We arrived late in the day to an almost empty beach with no staff around and took a few vacant chairs. Half an hour later, the beach manager or lifeguard came over yelling that we had to move two meters to the next chairs. We said we were paying guests and asked him to speak more politely. A few minutes later, when our friend arrived, he came back just to call us “the problem” for asking him to be nicer. At breakfast, the waiters were rude and ignored us too. Then we ordered four Aperols at the bar. They brought the drinks to our chairs, which was a nice surprise since we thought we'd collect them ourselves. But when we paid, they tried to add €20 for carrying them just 10 meters. No one had told us about this service fee, and we hadn't asked for the service. The beach manager argued with us when we challenged the charge. The staff's attitude made it impossible to relax. We spent two nights here. The hotel advertises itself as 4* superior, but the rooms were old and far from superior. The carpet was nasty, wallpaper was peeling, the pillow was lumpy, and the tiny balcony was nearly useless. At best, I'd say 2*-3*. It was clean, at least. Calling this place 4* superior felt like a lie, and after this experience I'd tell people to think twice before booking. I felt scammed.

The rooms aren't anywhere near 4* quality, and the staff were so unfriendly that we didn't feel welcome at all. I've visited this region often every year, but I've never had a hotel treat us like this. The worst part was being asked to pay an extra €20 for so-called beach service after ordering four Aperols. Someone brought them 10 meters from the bar to our spot on the beach, but nobody told us beforehand that there would be a charge. It felt like a tourist scam. I don't recommend this hotel and we definitely won't return.

I was there with my three daughters, the youngest of whom is 9. At reception, we were told that our group would be split, three in one room and one in another. My eldest, who is 20, said she'd take the room alone, but it was on a different floor from us. The room we went to was tiny and smelled strongly of stale cigarettes. They'd crammed a single bed into a small double room. I was so disappointed and wouldn't recommend it.
