Agriturismo Desole

The meals were a real highlight: fresh, delicious food, much of it homemade, including the wine and olive oil, and there was plenty of it. We felt at home as soon as we arrived, thanks to the warm owner, who speaks good English and a little French. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the staff were kind and helpful. The house and grounds are beautiful, with lovely mountain views, plus a pool, ping pong table, and hammock beneath the trees. We were amazed by our stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Sardinia.

The room stayed much cooler than outdoors, and there’s an air conditioner too if needed. It was very clean, with the bed made and toilet paper checked daily. Breakfast was limited in choice, but the homemade juice was wonderfully fresh and tasty every morning. We didn’t try the dinner option, which costs extra. There are benches around the grounds, plus a small table and two chairs for each room. The pool looked clean most of the time and seemed adequate, though we didn’t use it. Parking includes a shaded space under solar panels for six cars, with more spots around the property. There’s a gentle, friendly dog wandering about, and we also spotted a cat. Internet worked, though it sometimes dropped out. One drawback was having only a tiny bin in the toilet; a larger one in the room would be useful. Some rooms sit next to the kitchen and restaurant, so they can get noisy now and then.

The owner Vinicio was especially helpful and friendly. Ask him for directions, as there have been lots of road works. We found the early September daily rate very reasonable. The place is quiet and scenic, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast includes homemade food, and the yogurt, jams, cheese, and the rest are worth trying. The outdoor pool was very clean and tempting, even with attractive beaches only a 15-20 minute drive away.

The owner and staff were friendly, and dinner is available for an extra charge, though we didn't try it. We also left the pool unused, even though it looked clean. Breakfast was good, especially the homemade fruit juice. I did miss having forks at the table, since eating cheese with a knife or spoon wasn't easy. The room was clean and stayed cool despite the extreme heat outside. It's a good base, not too far from the centers of Olbia and Monti.
