Casa Delle Grazie

Montone has a lively community feel, with festivals such as the July film festival and Santa Spina in August. People come together over homemade food at long tables, and there are restaurants, a bakery, and a café for coffee, cakes, bread, ice cream, and an aperitivo at sunset. Casa Delle Grazie makes a lovely base for all of it, with a view over the medieval village and gardens full of flowers, herbs, fruit, grapes, and olives. The vegetable patch had delicious zucchini, cucumber, onions, and tomatoes straight off the vine, and the hens laid fresh eggs every day. We especially enjoyed the pool and loungers, and the peace under the open sky, with swallows and swifts overhead. Each place has a terrace for bakery pastries and those colourful sunsets. After dark, the skies are wonderfully dark for spotting planets, constellations, satellites, and meteor showers. It's friendly, restful, and feels like a real Italian experience. I can't recommend it enough.

Montone is a short walk from the cottages, and its cobbled lanes lead up to the piazza for pizza, wine, and gelato. There's plenty of countryside nearby too, with lots of places to see within an hour's drive. Back at Casa Delle Grazie, the garden has a vegetable patch and the hens provide fresh eggs each morning. The cottages are lovely, with two en-suite bedrooms and big, comfortable beds. We enjoyed having a peaceful terrace for breakfast or an evening aperitivo, especially with that wide Umbrian countryside view and the beautiful sunsets. The location is great, the pool is lovely, and I'd highly recommend it.

A lovely place for couples or families, within walking distance of Montone, one of Umbria's most beautiful hill towns.

The staff were very friendly and spoke English. Finding the place would be easier with a more clearly defined address.
