Hotel Vomano

The restaurant is the highlight, with excellent food and really good pizza. The staff are quick and attentive, and reception is polite and helpful. Getting there is easy, but ask where to park since there's a gas station out front. My double room wasn't one of the best. The bed felt unusually small to me, and the mattress slid off its base whenever I sat back against the wall to have coffee or read. There was no way to keep it in place. The keys were simple but heavy, and the shutters stayed closed because apartments are right across from the room. Breakfast was minimal, just a cappuccino and a croissant. I often see the TV blaring across the wall when nobody is watching. Channel 5 has awful news and low-quality games. I doubt people come to a restaurant to watch Bonolis 😉 Some pleasant background music would make dinner feel nicer. After being out on the street all day, I’d like a bit of peace and quiet in the evening.

We spent Ferragosto here, and the position is handy, between the Laga mountains, the Gran Sasso mountain range, and the sea nearby. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean, with balconies and everything needed for a comfortable stay. The restaurant and pizzeria are both excellent. The pizzas are a must-try, and the traditional Abruzzo food is excellent too.

We stumbled across this place while looking for a handy base for a short break in the mountains, and had a lovely stay. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean, with fresh linens, and nights were quiet and cool. The restaurant was great too. The pizza was really easy to digest, and they made sandwiches for our hike that were still good two days later! The bar opens at 6:30, which works well if you're heading to the mountains early. The prices were more than fair. I’ll definitely come back.

I’ve worked in hotels for 30 years, so I know the trouble careless and indifferent parents can cause when their kids are left to run wild and break things. I love children, though, and woe to anyone who harms them. I needed to explain that before getting to what happened. I called twenty minutes ahead to book a room because something unexpected had come up. The room was ready and check-in was quick. I ate at the pizzeria, and the pizza and waiter service both get a solid 8 from me. My room was quiet, clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed. The problem was the neglect in the lobby. The restaurant on one side and the pizzeria on the other both have their only entrance through it. I think there were birthday parties at both places last night, and the kids from each party took over the lobby, running, screaming, and grabbing whatever they could reach. Some were emptying the antibacterial dispenser with their hands and splashing it around, while others were throwing it. They jumped all over the place. At one point they started mixing up the room keys left on the counter for guests who hadn't come back yet. I called them back and put the keys in order. The lobby was empty, of course, and when I called the children, I was the one being careless. Thankfully, it didn't affect my sleep, but it did bother me as someone who runs a hotel. The children had the lobby to themselves, and nobody from the hotel stepped in.
