We loved our visit, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our seven weeks in Italy, along with our stay at Il Nibbio. The museum is absolutely worth seeing. Town residents built it themselves, and it offers a spectacular portrayal of the Pollino national park and more. The founders and caretakers are clearly passionate, and they explain the displays so well, whatever language you speak.

The museum uses themed sections to explore different aspects of the Pollino National Park’s natural environment. Dioramas recreate important habitats in these biodiverse areas, giving a glimpse of them and showing animal behavior in natural settings. It also explains how a “natural relic” can become a cultural resource worth protecting and enhancing.

Be sure to take the guided tour at this nature study center. Our guide was so kind and excellent. I’d also suggest having a look in the shop. We had a wonderful visit.
