The walk to Bergamo Alto was one of the highlights, winding along cobbled streets and woodland paths past an old monastery. Lidia showed us the route, and it made a lovely way to build an appetite for dinner and wine in the old town. We spent two nights here on our honeymoon in late autumn, and honestly didn’t want to go. From the garden, with roses around us and rolling hills below, it was so peaceful, yet Bergamo Alto was still close by. The castle itself is fabulous, with decor that suits the building perfectly. Lidia hadn’t known it was our honeymoon, but as soon as she found out, she gave us some delicious local wine. We had such a wonderful time. Thank you, Lidia! Sian and Alessandro

We loved having coffee outside and taking in the castle surroundings, one of the best parts of the trip. The views stretch out in every direction, while inside the castle has modern amenities. There’s a bus stop a short walk away, with an easy ride to Bergamo if you’d rather not drive.

The panoramic views and quiet setting made this a memorable stay. The castle is in an elegant, beautifully kept residential area, and the personalized service showed care in every detail. Inside, it has loft beds and medieval furnishings, along with practical modern touches that worked well for us. It feels like being a princess in your own castle, and would suit families with children. A wonderfully unusual place that takes you back to the Middle Ages.

It’s quite isolated, well away from the bustle. Getting in can be a little risky, though: the cobbled road entrance is narrow and sits on a bend.
