Locanda Gaia

The place isn't modern, but it's clean and kept in order. The staff are very kind and polite.

At just over €70 a night, you get a good breakfast, a bathroom in the room, quiet air conditioning, and all the basics you need. They clean the room every morning, and there's private parking. I doubt you'd find a room for that price in Trieste, or in much of Italy. Katia, the owner, is incredibly kind and will find a way to sort out whatever you need. If you're looking for somewhere near Trieste, I'd recommend contacting Locanda Gaia.

The breakfast was good, but the room was expensive for what it offered. It was advertised as air-conditioned, yet there was only a small fan for a large room. The bathroom was dated, with mold in the shower, and the parking area was so narrow that I couldn't use it. I had to leave my car overnight at the gas station across the street. They shouldn't give false information online.

It was impossible to sleep during our stay. From 1 am to 3 am there was constant coming and going for shoes, doors banging, and then the same music started up again from 6 am. The rooms also had no bidet, which I found absurd in 2021. I don't know who was hosting us, but the place was outrageously expensive for somewhere so old and poorly maintained.
