Il Cargedo

Dinner at Cargedo was exceptional. You could tell how much care Ursula and Martin put into the dishes, table settings, and service, and breakfast lived up to our expectations as well. If you’re lucky, you might see fireflies and stars, which is a unique sight. Ursula and Martin are incredibly kind, welcoming hosts. Their little paradise surrounded by nature is just right for a few relaxing days. Don’t be put off by the road up: it may look difficult at first, but it’s manageable in any vehicle.

We’d have liked a bigger room for three, but we booked the day before, so it was fine. The drive up to the agriturismo is quite steep and narrow. The owners were welcoming, and the agriturismo is functional and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were good, and the pool and outdoor lounging area were lovely. I felt unwell during the night, probably because I wasn’t well to begin with.

Lorenza and Marco pamper you so much that the place feels like home, and you don’t want to leave. The food, Vibo Valentia, is excellent and plentiful, with a different variety each day. This quiet farmhouse is tucked into the hills among olive trees. There are cool little corners with benches where you can sit, read, and enjoy the fresh air, plus a swimming pool for hot days. What more could you ask for?

Ursula and Martin are so kind, friendly, and sensitive that words can hardly describe it. Their hospitality is superlative, and the place is enchanting. Ursula’s cooking is amazing, with every dish prepared with great care and imagination.
