Appartamenti Monte Nai

The location and garden earned five stars from us, but the house itself gets only one, leaving us with an overall two-star rating. With Villa Monte Nai, it feels like you’re paying for the location. You can walk straight from the private garden to the beach, and there are quiet corners to relax in without being disturbed. There’s an outdoor shower too. We used that every time because the indoor shower is so cramped that its curtain doesn’t fit, and showering means wiping down the bathroom afterwards. The drains in the sinks were nearly blocked when we arrived, though management got that fixed quickly. The kitchen and furnishings were disappointing. The dishes and cutlery wouldn’t be enough for the full eight people, some utensils were broken, including the kettle and pots, and the fridge smelled awful, so we cleaned it ourselves. The whole kitchen smelled of rancid olive oil. You need to bring everything, including toilet paper, dish soap, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, and spices. We booked linen and towels but got only bed sheets and pillowcases. The four sun loungers shown in the photos have been replaced by one of a different kind. The furnishings overall are very dated. The parking spot is at the house, but getting there means using a steep, narrow drive. Turning around in a larger vehicle is an adventure, though manageable if someone guides you. An SUV or off-road vehicle would definitely help. Standards in Southern Europe are known to differ from Germany, but we’ve stayed in a much better equipped rental farther north in Sardinia, so we have a comparison. The house is right on the beach, and the property is fully private, but its amenities didn’t match what we’d hoped for.
