Residenze Sa Murta Marina

The place looked lovely, but the cleanliness was awful. There were cobwebs and dirt on the floors and in the kitchen, and the bathroom had hair everywhere. They hadn't even shifted the bin to clean behind it, so you can imagine what had built up there. The fridge also smelled strongly of fish. I know summer turnovers can be difficult, but a few hours of proper cleaning would have made a big difference. It felt like they only changed the sheets. I really wouldn't recommend it. Booking.com shows a 7.8 rating, which doesn't match what we experienced.

We paid €220 a night for a place that wasn't remotely big enough for four, and the basic setup was poor: no TV, bin, tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, or coffee maker. There were too few dishes, just two wine glasses and two coffee mugs, and only one standard European outlet. None of the plugs in our travel kit fit the others. The old bedroom air conditioner was noisy, couldn't cool the whole apartment, and only responded to its remote when switching on or off. Turn on two taps together and the water pressure almost disappears. Getting there was a bad start. The reception was hard to locate, with piles of rubbish and laundry at the entrance. It only opened from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and nobody answered the phone outside those hours, which was a very narrow window after a long drive from Germany. A receptionist who didn't speak any foreign language walked us through a narrow alley for over a hundred meters from the parking lot, left us with our luggage, pointed out the air conditioning remote, and disappeared. There was a faint but unmistakable urine smell throughout the apartment with the door shut, as if the same cloth had been used around the toilet and in the other rooms. We asked for a second sheet to use as a blanket and were promised one, but it never came. This was easily my worst Booking.com booking. We felt cheated by the price. At €50 a night, we might have accepted that it was terrible but at least cheap. We left after one night and will contact Booking.com for compensation.

After we complained about being moved, the first employee gave us no explanation and spoke only Italian, despite Booking.com saying English and German were spoken. We eventually got a call back from another employee and were given a suitable apartment, but it didn't have the Costa Rei view we'd booked. Our original accommodation was suddenly unavailable for dubious reasons, and instead we were taken to a dark, dirty, run-down apartment without any explanation. The agency simply cheated us. The attempted fraud, silence, and complete lack of an apology were extremely disappointing.

The sea in Sardinia was enchanting, and it's the only reason the money I spent didn't ruin my vacation. The first day was spent arguing with the manager and trying to make the property decent myself. Shame! I booked for two through Volagratis at properties managed by an owner who says he manages private homes such as "Residenze sa Murta Marina" and "Ville Rei Sole". What we were given bore no resemblance to the listing. The manager said they had 180 properties and couldn't photograph them all, but that type of property didn't seem to exist anywhere. As another review from two years ago described, there were dirty sheets, broken bathroom fixtures, unpleasant dishes, a dead mosquito crushed on the wall, and cobwebs everywhere. It was an unprecedented disgrace, especially at a time when a little extra care should have been mandatory. I don't even know how to comment on a place like this.
