B&B Garibaldi Deluxe

The location was good. We were charged 10€ in tourist tax, though under the new regulations it should have been 1€ per person. Nobody cleaned our room, and there was no soap. Checkout was at 10:00, but they tried to make us leave at 9:00 while we were still asleep. Would I recommend it? No.

It’s cheap and near the train station, but that’s about all it has going for it. The room is big, yet everything in it feels cheap, and you can feel the mattress springs. The AC drips into a bucket inside the room, which you have to empty yourself. They didn’t clean the room during our four-night stay. Mornings were noisy, and the welcome desk was almost always shut. We even saw fellow travelers waiting for staff to return. Breakfast wasn’t good, and rooms on the fifth floor mean paying 20 cents to take the elevator down. The welcome and room I got in a cheap hostel in Ho Chi Minh were better. Don’t be misled by the Booking photos or rating: there’s nothing deluxe or “luxury” here. If it’s your first time in Naples, I’d look elsewhere, even if it means staying farther from the station.

The rooms were large and clean, and the staff were great. The central location is good, though the place can be tricky to find. There was some kind of water unit in the bathroom that made a lot of noise whenever you turned on the tap, flushed the toilet, or did anything else. Aside from that, it was a good hotel.

We arrived around 9 pm because our train was delayed, and nobody answered when we called the contact number repeatedly. Being stuck in an unfamiliar city and having to find somewhere else was painful and upsetting. Check-in was only available before 8 p.m., and after that no one would help, leaving us to sleep on the street. They still charged my credit card that same day. The next morning I saw the receptionist, who called it a “no show,” really?! I hope this rude, unfriendly place gets no guests. Fortunately, there are good hotels nearby.
