Bonapace Porta Nolana B&B

We slept really well here. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet, and we were happy with the facilities for our one night. Most things were an easy walk away. Morning light came into the room, though, so sleeping late was difficult. Also, there’s no lift. Carrying our luggage up all those stairs in 35 degree heat was hard.

The location worked really well for train travel. Pompeï and Ercolano are about a five minute walk away by train, the Central Station is seven minutes, and the centre is 15-20 minutes. Check-in is a bit weird because you have to call a number, though it does work. They’d do better to tell people about that beforehand. The room is old and worn, but clean in most spots. For this price, that’s about what you get. And yes, there are stairs. The listing says there’s no lift, so don’t complain about it.

The staff were all very nice, and the location is central, with some good cafes nearby, though the area felt a bit dodgy. Still, a place like this needs to provide a decent night’s sleep, and we didn’t get one across any of our four nights. The walls are thin, so loud noises came through at random hours. We booked a double bed but got two single mattresses pushed together. They slid apart during the night, leaving a gap that one of us kept falling into. Breakfast was also a letdown. It wasn’t included with every booking, and even when it was, we only got a voucher for a cafe downstairs that looked dodgy. A B&B should at least manage breakfast and a good night’s rest. This managed neither, so I gave it one star.

The entrance is a little dodgy looking, and finding the main gate just after Tizzy cafe can take a moment. Once inside, though, the service is lovely, the rooms are clean and tidy, and the breakfast is good. The rooms are a decent size, with a nice bathroom and a very good shower. Ours faced the street, but we didn’t hear much noise. The location is fantastic, right by the circumvesuviana terms station and around a ten minute walk from Garibaldi central station. A good b&bit with good rooms, breakfast and service.
