Centro Storico Napoletano

Naples is loud, frantic and sometimes overwhelming, but its energy is unlike anywhere else in Italy. Don't let anyone talk you into skipping it or treating it only as a base for the Coast. It's a city you feel, not just visit. We spent the last ten days of March 2026 there, wandering through the Spanish Quarters beneath the hanging laundry and eating the most incredible, affordable pizza of our lives. What stayed with me most was the people. Their spontaneous generosity and warmth made us feel at home, even amid all the scooter traffic. My most precious memory from the trip is watching my kids eat gelato on the Lungomare at sunset, with Mount Vesuvius looking over the bay. I'm taking that memory back to the States. Naples is raw, real and deeply poetic. If you want postcard perfection, go elsewhere. If you're after the soul of Italy, come here. It was the most authentic part of our whole trip.
