We just got back from a week here in 2024. I’m not sure why the reviews are so high. We don’t have especially high standards, we just wanted a decent base while away, but although some things were right, plenty more were wrong. We asked for the taxi shuttle they said they offered, but they told us to just get a taxi at the airport. That would usually be fine, except Naples taxis are known for ripping off tourists. Luckily, we found a decent driver, who still overcharged us, though not too badly. We arrived at 9:30pm and had to figure out the downstairs door, which eventually opened on its own. The key safe upstairs, outside the main door, was supposed to hold our key, but it was empty. When we rang the owners, they first acted as though we were mistaken. Once they believed us, they called other people staying in the “hotel” to come let us in. By then it was 10pm. We were also told to hold the front door bell down, apparently so staff could let us in, since they claim to have a 24-hour front desk. There wasn’t one. Two nervous young women let us and my partner inside. They were residents the owners had woken up, and we could have been anyone. This kept happening with later arrivals too. The room itself was nice, and the bedding and towels were clean. But the bathroom smelled horribly of sewage the whole time. Closing the toilet lid and opening a window was the only way we found to lessen it. The shower pressure was almost nonexistent, more of a trickle, though it did the job. Other guests arrived overnight and rang the bell at different times, waking us up, then people staying there would answer the door for them. In the morning the owner showed up with no apology, just asking for money. They only take cash, which we couldn’t find mentioned anywhere. Breakfast was a single coffee and croissant from a cafe downstairs, hardly a bed and breakfast. After that the owners left. We were told they only came when guests arrived to collect money and didn’t return, so the desk was unmanned every day. We also noticed all the spare room keys hanging freely behind the desk, where anyone could take them. We made sure to lock away anything important. On the second night, a group of young people arrived and kept ringing the bell because they couldn’t get in. They eventually made it inside, then spent the next three nights being loud and, from the sound of it, drunk. They repeatedly rang the bell to get back in, with doors opening and slamming. Sometimes it went on until midnight or later. A bell makes no sense if reception isn’t staffed 24/7, and it just wakes people up. The back doors lead to a shared terrace, not a private balcony as Booking.com’s description suggested. There are two outside doors, one broken and unable to lock. They’re paper thin, and the windows rattle in the wind, held in place with rolled-up bits of paper. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. It’s designed more like a hostel than a hotel, and if the bell doesn’t wake you, the thin walls will. It’s far too expensive for what it is and nowhere near a three-star stay. There were a few positives. The area looked sketchy but was actually quite nice, with some good restaurants. The balcony had a nice view of Naple, the cleaning lady was polite and nice to us, it was a 40-minute walk to Naples town centre, and the air conditioning worked fine.
