Horrible. We’d paid for three days, but our flight was delayed and we arrived on the second day. They marked us as “no show.” When we got there, the property was empty and the door was locked. I called, but no one answered. After traveling so far to a foreign country expecting to be welcomed, “scam” was the first thing that came to mind. Beware.

The staff were the highlight, everyone was so nice and helpful. When a flight issue came up, they arranged an extra bed so I could stay in my parents’ room for a night. The rooms were clean and tidy, and felt as good as new despite the building being old. The location is great too, near the main train and metro station, with the main attractions within walking distance. I felt pretty safe in the area, though it’s crowded all the time. The front entrance door is really hard to open, and a microwave in the room would be useful. Aside from that, everything was great, no complaints!

Getting checked in was a nightmare. I messaged the hotel on WhatsApp Friday because reception is closed Sundays, but got no reply. I followed up Saturday, still nothing. Someone only got back to me with an access code after I contacted Expedia, and even then I was told to reach out again for more instructions. The receptionist, Martina, was extremely unhelpful. When I got in, someone else’s luggage was in my room. I tried to get help, but nobody replied, so I had to go through Expedia again. They were shocked by the lack of professionalism too. Martina told me to take the other guests’ bags to reception myself. I refused to touch someone else’s belongings, and she said, “I’m not your friend and reception doesn’t work.” There was no soap or other basic amenities in the room. The hotel is in a very sketchy part of town, and at check-in I was charged a tourist tax rate for a 4-star hotel, even though this place is at best 2-star with 1-star service. Poor communication, missing amenities and the staff’s dismissive attitude made the whole stay terrible. The owners should train their employees properly. Be ready for no support from reception, access problems and a lack of basic hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a professional or even passable experience.

For € 48 including tax, we got a clean, well equipped room with a good bed, minibar with water and a nice shower. The information was clear and complete, and they were easy to contact. We could also leave our luggage for free on checkout day. The smell in the apartment was the biggest downside. The old elevator was inconvenient too, since we had to climb an extra level of stairs. That makes it more like 4 stars for me, though I think they’ll do their best to improve things. The price-quality was perfect.
