Guest house 3 stars Naples

I ended up in Napoli without anywhere to stay after I accidentally booked the wrong dates at a local hostel. In a hurry, I booked the only place available for my whole stay without thinking much about it. That turned out to be a great accident. Maurizio greeted me and showed me around the lobby, which was full of antiques he'd collected. He explained that this wasn't a hotel or a BnB, but an experience, and that felt true. He was also a professor and offered free private guided tours of the city. His passion for the things in the lobby was clear. Maurizio offered me a better room for an extra 10 euro a night, with free breakfast and a free minibar. I was on a budget and declined, but he understood and gave me the breakfast and minibar anyway at no extra cost. My room was beautifully decorated, with a small tea kitchen and fresh herbs in the window. As a solo traveler, I had a lot of fun going out with Maurizio and some other guests. He took us to tango lessons and paid for wine and food. I became friends with my neighbors too. Maurizio also offered night tours and to take me to a ball to see neopolitan tango, but I was a stupid kid who wanted to see more nightlife, and I regret missing both. I had breakfast with my new friends each morning, and Maurizio joined us some days to show us how to enjoy a Neopolitan breakfast. The whole stay was amazing. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone wanting something more special than an average hotel vacation. I'll definitely come back someday. 10/10.

The project is an excellent way for visitors to discover Naples and its culture. Our host and guide, Maurizio Stella, was incredibly helpful and knew so much.

We’ve just returned from Napoli and Amalfi, and although we travel all over the world, I’ve never written a review before. We had no real idea what to expect from this programme, but it turned out to be one of the best services we’ve experienced. Our three hosts, mauritzo, gala, and cluadio, were kind, eager to help, and made Napoli feel alive and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. I believe the new programme is run by the university, and we strongly recommend it. Thank you all, and hopefully we’ll be back xxx

We left and found a hotel after the “professor” checking us in insisted on cash instead of letting us use a credit card, then asked us to leave when we refused. This is a room in a dark, dingy building with four keys needed to get in. It is not a hotel and shouldn't be listed as a 4 star hotel. The place felt sketchy. TAKE THIS LISTING DOWN as a hotel.
