Paola deserves credit for the service. The place is at the heart of Naples, close to most historical sights, with bars and restaurants all around. Montesato station is nearby, so it’s easy to get to the Naples-Sorrento train line for Pompeii or Herculaneum. At first the street may seem noisy, which is why Paola offers earplugs, but I didn’t need mine at all. I was there on a Saturday night and I’m not a particularly heavy sleeper, though of course noise is personal. It’s a nice place, maybe just a click less expensive.

The apartment has everything for a short Naples stay, and the owner is so lovely and helpful. It's right in the middle of the city, which means scooters sometimes rattle the manhole cover outside the window. If you want a quiet retreat, Naples may not be your kind of place. But get out early, wander through the Pignasecca market, stop for a babà or sfogliatella and coffee, then explore on foot. For summer, the fan is enough, and the old building's thick walls help too. It feels properly authentic. I'm already looking forward to coming back.

You can get around the historic center, shops, culture, nightlife, and metro stations on foot from here, and it doesn't cost a fortune. The place itself is small but really cute, neatly laid out, and has what you need.

Street noise comes through the window facing the road, so it could bother light sleepers. Otherwise, the location and cleanliness were excellent, and Mrs. Paola was kind and helpful.
