Maison Arena Bovio

The room was clean and the building seemed safe. Maintenance staff did come into my room without contacting me first. Don’t book through bookings.com.

The woman who runs the B&B was very kind and offered good restaurant suggestions, and the central location made the metro easy to reach. But the room was dirty, and noise from outside was really disruptive. There was no do-not-disturb sign, so housekeeping opened the door while I was in the room. Breakfast was awful, with very tasteless croissants from the café.

I liked the spotless, comfortable rooms and the thoughtful extra touches. The large screened window gave a pleasant street view and let in fresh air, and the management was helpful. The location also made it easy to walk to the main sights. Just be aware this is a B&B, which I found misleading: a hotel has a 24-hour reception and easy access.

Our flight was cancelled, so we had to arrive a day later than planned. I called as soon as we found out, while already at a transit airport, and offered to pay in advance for the whole booking, including the night we couldn't use, or to send copies of our IDs or passports. They said they would have to cancel the entire reservation if we didn't arrive as booked. When I called again to ask for more information, they hung up on me. We'd booked through booking.com, so I thought there was some security for the accommodation. Instead, we were left without a place during dates when football events made Naples very popular. We did find somewhere else, luckily, but I don't understand cancelling the whole booking when guests are willing to pay and the change is outside their control. If you're flying in, do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.
