Maison San Gregorio

We picked this property because Booking.com described it as having “private parking.” On arrival, we found that private parking was more of a philosophical idea than something we could actually use, and we ended up paying €60 to park elsewhere. The room felt like a game of “touch it and see what falls off.” The sink shifted and gave way with the slightest touch. There was also a clear punch mark on the door, and after spending two days in the room, we think we know who made it. The air conditioning was unpredictable. It might finally come on after ages, then stop, then start again, with sudden cold spells and long stretches of nothing. There was no bidet in the bathroom, so we went two days without one. The girl who greeted us mentioned a “Dario,” supposedly the owner. We asked for his number to clear up a few things, but never got it. We still don’t know if Dario really exists or is some mythological figure called up in a crisis. We were also asked to pay the tourist tax, which we did, naturally, because we’re ladies. Collecting that was the only thing that worked properly.

Martina was a fantastic host, always friendly and ready to help. The accommodation was peaceful, right in the historic center, with a panoramic view of Naples. It’s handy for the main sights, including the Veiled Christ, the Naples Underground, and Spaccanapoli, and public transport and the subway are convenient too. I’ll definitely come back to this beautiful city.

From the start, Dario was welcoming and professional. The house is kept in meticulous shape, with a spectacular view over the Gulf of Naples. Its excellent location across from San Gregorio Armeno makes it easy to see all of Naples on foot. I highly recommend it.

The alley was really quiet, and the property felt clean and welcoming. It’s an excellent place to stay in the heart of Naples, with most sights an easy walk away.
