Palazzo Rota Guesthouse

Drill.

A lovely place.

The central location doesn’t make up for how precarious the management and security are, especially when it comes to the keys and how they’re handed out. They leave the keys at the bazaar next door, where practically anyone can get to them. I remember a couple of people in the shop openly watching the code for the lockbox. I worked around that by leaving my suitcase and backpack in another hotel’s luggage storage. Then, half an hour before checkout, housekeeping let themselves into my room without permission and seemed surprised to find it occupied before the scheduled time. Thanks for the Fantozzi-esque adventure, but I could’ve done without it.

The area is quiet, and the place is very central and convenient, with good value for money. Cleanliness, though, was inadequate. The apartment is on the building’s second floor, and after entering the foyer you have to climb wooden stairs to reach the bedroom, which is awkward with luggage.
