We spent three nights here. The location was the one good part. There were so many problems I could write a whole book, so here's the short version. There isn't a reception desk, and if anything goes wrong you're expected to call at your own expense. We had to ring about three times. Check-in also meant waiting several minutes for someone to turn up with the keys. The hot water ran weak after two minutes, leaving us with cold showers, and the air conditioning worked very slowly. Staff communication felt rude and unprofessional. Breakfast was cold scrambled eggs, bread from the day before, and a bar worker who couldn't speak either English or Italian. I'd avoid this place.

This was the worst experience I've had. I tried to communicate calmly with the female staff member, but she got angry whenever I couldn't understand her Indian English. Is a guest at fault for not understanding the way staff speak? The hotel wall advertises a paid shuttle for guests, so I asked a staff member to book a taxi for the next day. He said it was no problem, but when the time came, no taxi had been arranged and I was told to go find one myself. I felt misled. I was also told checkout was at 11:00 AM, as it is at hotels generally. I went out to buy something and returned at 10:00 AM to find the female Indian staff member knocking and telling my wife to take all our bags out immediately. I pointed out that checkout was 11:00, not 10:00. She eventually accepted that, without showing any regret. Ridiculous.

The owners made us feel welcome and were easy to reach, and the room and shared spaces were spotless and looked after well. The location is especially handy, with Metro Line 1 only about a hundred metres away. It met what we expected.

Piazza Dante is lively, with noise going on late, but this is a very nice place. My shower drain smelled bad. The breakfast room was welcoming, and so were all the staff.
