Relais Della Porta

The staff were friendly and ready to help with anything we asked. Breakfast was high quality, and the rooms were large and comfortable. The hotel feels cosy and warm, and its location in the historic center is hard to beat. Everything was perfect.

The staff made the stay, from the cleaners to the receptionist, possibly the owner, who stayed up until 1am to let us in after our flight was delayed. The breakfast was good too. We loved this quirky little hotel and would recommend it. We had a wonderful three days. I like big hotels, but boutique places have their appeal, and this one had loads of character. We won’t forget the little hobbit-like entrance door. Our room was spacious and clean, the bed was great, and the air conditioning worked like a dream even with 33 degrees outside. It’s well placed for getting around Naples quickly.

The location is hard to beat, near good restaurants, bars, and a lovely cinema. Breakfast was surprisingly good and well stocked, with plenty of vegan options. Staff were friendly. Those are the reasons I gave it a 3 rather than a 2. We picked this hotel because affordable places in Naples seemed to have awful reviews, and this looked like the best of a bad bunch. The room was pretty janky: an overwhelming smell of damp and watermelon vape meant we bought incense just to sleep. Stains on the ceiling and furniture made the whole room feel dirty, and the hallways smelled of smoke. The lift runs on a 10c meter, and staff have to come down to give you the coin. I wouldn’t stay longer than a night or two, but it worked as a stopover after our trip to Ischia. For the airport, get an Uber: ours was €28, while the hotel’s transfer service quoted a flat €55.

We really loved this place. The breakfast was outstanding, the service focused on every detail, and the room was beautiful. It’s a stunning city palace in a historic building, right in the old town beside a metro station with a nonstop line to the central train station. Best hotel of our Italy trip.
