Vanvitelli Domus

The shops and trains to Naples Centre are close by, so the location is great. The room was a decent size, the shower was better than the water pressure I get at home, and the bedding, mattress, and pillows were excellent and helped my back a little. Still, there were cracks around the walls and window that needed repair, damp and dirty walls in the bedroom and bathroom, and the room door looked as if someone had forced it with a crowbar. The host only used WhatsApp and told me not to call. We waited half an hour after arriving at the time he’d given us, then got a message with the code for the main entrance; the room key was inside the room door. I never met him. Every morning from around 8, the woman in the next room spoke loudly, as if on conference calls. B&B here meant getting up and going to a coffee bar, which was nice, to be fair. Worst of all, less than 24 hours before checkout, I got another WhatsApp message saying we had to leave a £48 tax bill for the host to pay the council. I hadn’t seen that in any small print, and he hadn’t mentioned it earlier. I didn’t think it was reasonable to spring an extra payment on us as we were leaving, especially when I hadn’t met him. I’ve named him the “Invisible Host.”

Rafaelle was very helpful when I arrived after 10pm. Vanvitelli Domus is a lovely B&B in Naples’ Vomero area, a short walk from Vanvitelli Piazza and the Metro station. I enjoyed coffee and a Croissant con crema at Michaelangelos Café, and would recommend staying here.

A great place in Naples, in Vomero, close to Vanvitelli train station and only about two minutes’ walk from the center. The room had a private toilet and shower, a comfortable bed, perfect air conditioning, and its own refrigerator and casa. The furnishings are beautiful, and I liked the shower. They clean every day and change the towels. The Italian-style breakfast was nice too, and I enjoyed it as a Turkish guy. I’d gladly recommend staying here, with peace of mind and at a good price.
