Voglia di Napoli

We booked at the last minute for one night before a morning flight, and the owner had the apartment ready and welcomed us within about 20 minutes. The place was clean, with good AC, cold water in the fridge, and a nice shower. The owner helped with our bags and let us in earlier than allowed. My family and I were very happy with the experience!

The pizza was okay, but the whole thing was confusing, and nobody spoke English. They had a separate English menu that cost more. Our pizza was supposed to be 5 euros, but it came to 7, plus another euro for eating in.

The room itself was clean, bright, quiet, and had air conditioning. It was also close to the bus and train stations. Once we were inside, it was fine for a passable night, and the room was decent enough. But the arrival was a mess, and I was glad to leave as soon as possible. There’s no reception, and check-in officially ends at 10pm. Our flight landed at 10:30pm, and it’s a 15-20 minute drive into central Naples, so we asked to check in later. The owner said that was okay and offered to “give us a present” by waiving the £20 fee for arriving after 10pm. The fee itself seemed unreasonable, and it hadn’t been made clear at all when we booked. If we’d known, we would have stayed somewhere else. Our flight was delayed, and despite rushing, we couldn’t leave the airport until 11pm. We messaged to say we’d be late. The owner said he’d wait until midnight, but after that our booking would be cancelled. That was ridiculous. The delay wasn’t our fault, and we hadn’t been told ahead of time that being a little late could mean losing our booking. The “hotel” is basically a few rooms on one floor of a rough apartment block, in a rough area, without a formal entrance. We only found it because the owner’s nephew was watching for us. He saw us looking lost, came over, and recognized our names from the reservation. If he hadn’t spotted us, I honestly don’t know where we would have stayed that night.

We got a cozy apartment with a kitchen for a reasonable price, which was a nice surprise. The staff were welcoming and helpful, especially Mrs. Titti. Hotel Voglia di Napoli is just steps from the train station and well connected to the city center. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely return!
