Blu Salento Village

The resort is laid out really nicely, and the nearby towns are amazing. It’s a great secluded spot for a relaxed family summer break. The gold package makes for a different kind of stay, with a booking at a smaller restaurant and a front-row place on the beach. The kids’ clubs were good. I wasn’t keen on the evening entertainment, but that’s just personal taste. One thing to remember: there’s no ATM in this little village, so bring cash.

There’s lots of entertainment here, and the location of Blue Salento Village Hotel makes for a great stay. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast is usually Italian style, though the scrambled eggs could use some work. A lively place where you can also relax.

We left feeling like we’d thrown our money into the sea. The beach was really dirty, even after we complained at reception, and some of our beach toys went missing during our two-week stay. Meals got so repetitive that after the first week we’d all lost our appetite: the same starters, pasta, and rice dishes. The evening shows weren’t suitable for kids, with lots of adult material and the occasional swear word, although the baby dance was fine. Mosquitoes were all over the playground and around our suite too. There are much better places than this one.

Getting to the beach is easy, and it’s a lovely stretch of soft sand. There’s plenty to do around the hotel, so you won’t get bored. The pool area is lovely, the rooms are very good, and the food was fantastic. Staff were generally friendly and courteous. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
