Casa Penelope

We spent four nights here with the family, starting July 31st. Antonia was our friendly and helpful contact. Casa Penelope is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, and has everything you need. The apartment sleeps four or five, and Vigne worked well as a base for visiting this part of Umbria, including Narni, Amelia, Marmore, and Otricoli. Back in the afternoon, we could relax by the pool among the greenery, then eat on the apartment’s veranda in the evening. One small note outside the main review: the hosts recommended La Tiberina, which was excellent for pasta. Watch the beef steaks priced by 100g, though, two of them cost us €56.

Parking is right below the accommodation, and there’s a small library with information on places to visit. We stayed in October with our daughters, aged 10 and 13, and had a great time. The owners welcomed us like old friends, though the pool was closed, which was a shame. The apartment was spotless, fully equipped, and had a well-stocked kitchen. I love B&Bs for their personal feel and price, and Casa Penelope had a great mix of both. Do come by car or motorbike, since getting around otherwise may be difficult: the bus stop is about 500 meters away and service is quite infrequent.

The apartment is in a handy location and has all the comforts. The owners were attentive and very kind, and made us feel well looked after.

A great spot for anyone after some peace and relaxation.
