The bathroom was the worst part of our stay. The sink faucet was partly taken apart and splashed everywhere, the toilet wouldn't flush, and we had to use the floor cleaner bucket to pour water into it. There were empty cleaning bottles, no hand soap, a dirty brown rag on the floor, and a badly smelling mop. The bidet seemed unsafe to use; someone had apparently urinated in it. I had a small personal mishap when someone else's mess spilled around, then slipped while using the bidet and grabbed the wall after hitting an iron towel rack. It was a disaster, and at times we avoided the bathroom and went outside instead. Strange, because alongside all that there was a handy laundry sink and a great shower with massage jets, lights, and music. There was mold along the inner silicone and bodily fluids left by previous guests who hadn't cleaned up. The location was decent, with lots nearby: about 10 minutes to a very nice sushi place, 12 minutes to McDonald's and the war cemetery, plus night markets, restaurants, and bars. We didn't use the food service, so I can't rate it. The guests staying with us were truly uncivilized. Three-star price, though. Our contact was kind, and they sent instructions by chat. The apartment itself was simple, with the kitchen on the right and stairs to the upper floor on the left. Unfortunately, there was noise there about 90% of our stay, including at night. Once inside, the room looked pleasant and seemed worth the price, though it could use renovation. Some wall lamps had been torn out, leaving a crack in the plaster that was repaired hastily. The closets had no doors, but you could hang clothes, and the storage unit was useful for luggage. The bed was made up well, and the blankets and towels were clean. The bed and walk-in closet were also clean, but looking under the bed revealed a layer of dust and bits of debris. There were cobwebs on the ceiling, the balcony door didn't close properly, and there were no mosquito nets. I liked the TV, which occasionally changed channels by itself. The cleaners seem to go only where the bishop goes. Regards.
Everything was close at hand from this very central spot. The room was great, with a roomy walk-in closet, and the shared kitchen had assigned areas for everyone. Furniture pieces and the refrigerator were marked with room codes. The owner and staff were really kind. A fantastic stay.
The location is almost perfect, right in the center, though that does mean you hear traffic and people talking in the street at night. In summer, with no air conditioning, you can really only sleep with the balcony open and the fan running. And there's a free wake-up call from the pet shop across the street at 7 every morning. It's a standard duplex apartment: you get a room with a balcony, and the rest is shared. Ernesto welcomed us very warmly. Some of his wording felt a little unprofessional, perhaps because we were communicating in English, but he clearly tried hard to make us comfortable and did. The rooms looked clean, but we were disappointed there were no mosquito nets. The wardrobe handle was broken, and I cut my finger badly on it on the first day. The bathroom seemed nice at first, but closer up it was quite dirty, with mold in the shower. It needs regular, thorough cleaning by the host. The kitchen was mostly okay, but there was no coffee maker or kettle. There was just some washed cutlery in a cup on the table, and the drawer was almost empty. The cupboards weren't very clean either, and the refrigerator needs checking more often. Finding rotten salad left by other guests wasn't pleasant.
Ernesto, the manager, is very friendly and kind. But the service was poor, and for what we got, the price is absolutely unjustified. The place clearly needs proper maintenance: the sink drain was clogged, there was no hot water because the old boiler wasn't working, and the toilet wouldn't flush, along with other small signs of neglect. For context, I've been a career soldier for 25 years and have shared rooms and dormitories, including bathrooms, with many colleagues. Sorry.
Ernesto gave me a lovely welcome and was kind and helpful. The accommodation is well kept, with clear attention to detail, and sits right in the city center. I had a great stay and would definitely come back.
