Hotel Gino

The balcony gave us a splendid view over central Noli and Monte Ursino Castle, and after buying a book we could sit out there and read. The hotel offers crime novels by an author from Savona, including one written and set in this very hotel, which may appeal to book lovers. We booked through Booking and stayed three days at Hotel Gino. We had a positive experience, and I’d gladly return. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even giving us the main door key in case we came back late. There’s a restaurant where we had both dinner and breakfast, and the food was excellent. Our room also had a refrigerator for keeping drinks cold. It’s convenient for local amenities. The hotel is opposite the Carabinieri station, at a fork in the road. After 200 meters downhill you reach the beach, while the other way takes you into the town center. There’s a nearby playground, making it a good spot for children. A few things could use maintenance, like a slightly broken door handle and trim that’s coming loose. Also, with no elevator, I wouldn’t recommend it for elderly people who are unsteady on their feet.

I loved this big, roomy vintage hotel, and had an extremely pleasant stay. The place was quiet and professional, and the staff went out of their way to find solutions for everything I needed. The room was very comfortable and spacious, and I could come and go whenever I wanted, day or night. It was September, but Noli was still full of summer life. The town is a rare gem in Liguria and Italy, and this hotel suited me perfectly. I’ll think of coming back whenever I want to revisit the town where I spent happy summers as a child. Fully recommended.

The location was excellent, and the staff were really friendly. Beyond that, though, it was hard to enjoy the stay. The towels were dirty and marked with yellow stains, the furniture was very old, and I found a used bar of soap left by the previous guest. They don’t replace the soap daily. There was rust all over the balcony table and chairs, brown streaks in the toilet, and more. The ceiling fan couldn’t keep up with hot summer nights, and the price didn’t feel worth what was offered.

Never again. The rooms are old, the furniture outdated, and the bathroom was beyond acceptable. There were cobwebs everywhere, three flights of stairs and no elevator, and no parking. The price was at a three-star level, but how does a place like this get three stars at all? I wouldn’t give it even one.
