Alexander Art Nouveau Suites

The location made it easy to enjoy the city center, and we’d happily stay at Villa Nicolaci again if we return to Noto. My girlfriend and I spent three nights there from late September into early October, and the family who runs it made us feel very welcome. We had the pleasure of meeting some of them, and they couldn’t have been nicer. Breakfast was a treat each morning in the flower-filled garden: eggs and bacon, yogurt with fruit and nuts, plus pastries and coffee of our choice. Inside, the villa’s antiques and artwork give it a tasteful, timeworn feel, right from the entrance. Our Nicolaci Suite was beautifully furnished with antiques and paintings. It had a huge bedroom with an extra daybed, a dining room, and a lovely bathroom with both a shower and an oversized jacuzzi tub. The mattress and pillows were great, and the whole place was so comfortable.

The building is beautiful, with lovely antiques, and the owner was friendly, though she could only communicate in Italian. The gardens around the house looked a bit neglected. We also had a safety concern: our room was reached by elevator, and the stairwell door was locked, so there didn’t seem to be another way out in case of fire. Our room wasn’t very clean, and some furniture took up space without being useful. Staff seemed to do the bare minimum and appeared quite happy when we didn’t ask for the room to be cleaned. We tried breakfast once, but it was nothing special, so we skipped it after that. We were surprised by how noisy the area was, despite what other reviews said. Cars, buses, and scooters raced past our window, and the main window let in the sound as though we were right out on the road.

The hosts surprised me for my birthday with a bottle of sparkling wine and a cupcake with a candle, such a sweet touch. We had a lovely stay in a cozy suite, nicely decorated, with a beautiful garden and very friendly, polite staff. It’s about a five-minute walk to the old town, and parking is two minutes away. The villa is close to the road, so you may hear some noise at night, but it didn’t take away from our great time there. Highly recommend it!

A lovely historic villa and garden right in the center of Noto. Self check-in was easy, and there’s street parking. It felt safe and quiet. My one suggestion would be to improve the cleaning a little, as there was a slight urine smell in the bathroom and some dust in the room.
