Casa di Marco Palazzo Astuto

An elegant setting for a relaxing evening. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the after-dinner alcoholic drinks and liqueurs were excellent too.

The ornate balconies all follow the design of the central one, with its polygonal opening, triangular pediment and arched window behind an exquisite curved wrought-iron grille. That balcony sits above the grand arched entrance, which is topped by a fine geometric relief and framed by pillars. Palazzo Astuto di Fargione is one of the most splendid Baroque palaces in southeastern Sicily. Baron Filippo Astuto di Fargione had it built in the early 18th century, likely to a design by architect Vincenzo Sinatra. Its elegant façade has two horizontal levels and six pillars with volcanic capitals supporting the pediment.

This imposing noble palace has three floors and a central position in the town. Its Baroque façade features bulging balconies with distinctive iron railings. The plasterwork on the façade is in need of significant restoration.

We were welcomed so warmly, thank you. Wandering through the richly decorated rooms felt like stepping into a magical time, when life and the desire for rebirth become absolute values. It’s a unique and magnificent experience, in a noble palace of great historical and cultural value.
