We loved it. The grounds and gardens were enchanting, and the full-size 20m pool was a great place to relax in the sun. The hosts welcomed us with organic fruit and olive oil from their own estate, and they were delightful. It's a converted farmhouse, though it has more of a palazzo feel. The location worked well for us: Syracuse, Ragusa, Modica, and our favorite, Scicli, were within an hour's drive. Noto and Ispica, as well as the sea, were about half an hour away. We also liked the very reasonably priced bike hire. Once off the main road, there are quiet roads through olive and orange groves. A magical place to stay.

Casale Modica is a peaceful, beautiful place where history and comfort come together, and I'd highly recommend it. The accommodations were tastefully furnished and so comfortable after a day exploring the Val di Noto. Inside, there's also a fascinating museum about the Vendicari Tonnara, once owned by the Modica family. The historic residence has kept its remarkable character. Its grand courtyard feels welcoming, and the carefully tended garden, with its centuries-old trees, is lovely for a quiet walk. The spacious pool was spotless and fitted naturally into the surroundings. Michele and Teresa bring real passion and elegance to the place. Hearing them talk about local history and food and wine culture was a pleasure. They welcome everyone with such warmth and care that you feel part of a big family, while their thoughtful attention stays discreet. It made the whole stay feel like a dream.

Michele told us about his family's connection to the Vendicari tuna fishery, a story brought to life in the villa's lovely museum. The house has a special atmosphere and a beautiful garden. Our apartment was practical, nicely furnished, and had a comfortable bed. It's a historic stately home in a handy spot in the Noto countryside.
