Hotel Calabernardo Noto Marina

We booked a night at Noto Marina Hotel and Spa through Smartbox for June 7, after making the reservation in March. When we arrived, they said the hotel was full and explained their policy of moving guests to other properties. They offered Calabernardo instead of the place we had chosen. We trusted them and agreed, but the room there was so humid it was hard to breathe. The manager suggested opening the windows a little and putting the air conditioning on dehumidifier mode. We tried, but couldn't stay in that room for more than ten minutes. At reception, we said we weren't going to sleep there. They promptly offered to move us to a "brand new, huge, and beautiful" property. I kept saying that size and looks didn't matter to me, cleanliness did. They mentioned the outside was still a bit of a construction site. The property, called Armonia, has potential, with a pretty exterior and a spacious room with basic furnishings, but parts of the room were already in disrepair. Dust from construction, including work at the entrance, had made its way inside. The room didn't seem to have been cleaned: dust came off the bedside tables when I blew on them, and the floor was gross, with cobwebs in the corners. The bathroom fixtures didn't look especially dirty, and neither did the sheets, though they had holes. Four of the six towels were dirty. We stayed because we were there to relax, not argue. The managers have several properties, but considering the other reviews, they should do something else with their lives, or stop scamming people. If guests may be moved to cheaper places or properties that aren't yet open, that should be made clear when booking so people know what to expect. Never again.
