Landolina Palace

I picked this hotel for its affordable price and central location near Cafe Sicilia, and was very happy with the discovery for my one night in early August. The room was cool and spacious, with lovely old-world character. The bed was good, though I’ve slept on more comfortable mattresses. Nothing was wrong with the stay. I slept extremely well and had profoundly powerful dreams, and wondered whether the massive stone architecture had something to do with it. I’ll have to return one day to see if it happens again. Breakfast was great, not too busy, and there was good conversation with other guests, fresh air and a lovely view across the town centre in the morning sun. The service was great too. Thank you.

Monica and all the staff were wonderfully welcoming. We loved being right on the main road, staying in an old castle, and the only drawback was the cathedral bell starting at 7am and ringing every 30 minutes.

The bedrooms are plain, with basic but functional furniture and bathrooms, though the bed was comfortable and the place clean. Breakfast was adequate, but felt more three-star than four-star. We could sometimes hear the crowded bar opposite or buskers, and the cathedral bells start on the hour at 7am. Still, we didn’t regret staying and would return to Noto. It’s an extraordinary place in an 18th-century palace, in a central spot next to the cathedral. The staff are kind and helpful, and can arrange a guided tour of the palace’s state rooms. Parking is available on the road out front.

Monica is generous and knows the town so well. She brought Noto to life for us. The hotel is clean and completely enchanting, though it isn’t posh. If you’re after a rich experience of history and culture, with a bit of magic, this is the place. Noto is wonderful, and a visit could stay with you for a lifetime.
