Tenuta San Marco

We only went for dinner and didn’t stay in one of the rooms. It’s a huge restaurant with modern decor, lots of space, a large terrace with a pool, and free private parking. The food was very good, with a strong choice of red wines but fewer white wines. The menu leans more toward meat than fish. Staff were friendly and prices reasonable. It’s out in the middle of nowhere between Noto and Palazzolo, so you’ll need a car, but it’s worth the trip. They also host large parties and dinners for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. Highly recommended.

We went for a first communion celebration, so the menu was set. There were interesting, good antipasti, then a selection of grilled meats and dessert, with very good wine as well. It’s a beautiful place, and the service was quietly professional. The food was excellent.

If you remember dining at La Corte di Eolo in Palazzolo, Siracusa, and wonder where that lovely restaurant went, it has moved to a new spot not far away in Contrada San Marco and is now called Tenuta San Marco. The new place is very modern, with plenty of parking and beautifully landscaped grounds. The decor has changed completely, so you’ll have to make peace with that, and I do miss the old rustic look and its lovely panorama. Still, the succulent meat dishes that made the former restaurant popular are here, and the food is great. I’d suggest adding English translations beneath the menu items, or printing an English menu for tourists. A sign indicating how close the restaurant is would also help first-time visitors. Four stars are well deserved, even if you can’t have everything in life.

Exquisite food in a gorgeous restaurant with a huge banquet hall. The setting is modern, but the atmosphere still feels warmly local.
