We had a quiet, simple room with everything we needed. The hotel and restaurant staff were very kind and attentive, and the minestrone and turkey were both excellent. We’d happily come back.

We were visiting friends in Novara and stayed at the Parmigiano for three nights. The owners and their staff were lovely hosts, and everything was exceptionally clean. Our room was enormous and had an ensuite bathroom. We couldn’t have asked for more.

The staff were courteous and helpful, and the location right in central Novara is excellent. The bathroom has been renovated, but the rooms are very dated and really need a full makeover. There was no hairdryer, air conditioning, or minibar in the room, and breakfast was very basic.

At 75 euros a night for a double, the price is about the only thing that feels three-star. Even after I asked several times to have the room heated, I had to sleep in the cold. It was 8 degrees outside, and the room never got above 16. The bathroom heater stayed cold too. There was no hairdryer or minibar, and the beds and mattresses need replacing. Breakfast was all sweet: frozen or packaged croissants, packaged cakes, and biscuits, none labeled. Guests at the next table were offered savory food, though salami and cooked ham weren’t on the buffet. I won’t be back.
