Delta Hotels by Marriott Olbia Sardinia

We arrived outside the main season, so sadly didn’t get to try the outdoor pool. The hotel itself was nice to look at, but it was the welcoming staff who made those couple of nights feel like home. Thanks to Mario at breakfast for such great service, and a very special thank you to Matteo and Michelle at the hotel bar. They looked after us every day, and we even hurried back from dinner in the city to squeeze in one last drink before closing. Grazie ragazzi. 💙

I was there in the off-season as an Ambassador member of Marriott Bonvoy, but was refused an upgrade. They gave lots of excuses, even though the hotel was dead and better rooms were certainly available. The whole stay was frustrating. This is supposed to be a four-star hotel, but felt more like a tired two-star place, sterile and without warmth or personality. When I needed help, front desk staff responded with confusion, disbelief or outright hostility instead of hospitality. They also made bringing in outside food uncomfortable. We’re in Italy, where people naturally want to enjoy local cuisine, but one staff member told me outright that they didn’t want guests bringing takeaway in, as if it were an offense. Basic amenities were lacking, too. Apparently there’s just one microwave in the whole building, and most staff couldn’t tell me where it was. There are no irons in the rooms; guests have to share an ironing room on another floor, which feels incredibly dated for a place advertised as four-star. Breakfast was another letdown. Service was minimal or nonexistent, and guests ended up helping themselves after waiting around because staff were nowhere to be seen or didn’t seem interested in helping. There are far better hotels in Olbia that offer the hospitality and service they advertise. I’d strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The rooms are bright and spacious, and we had a great stay. It’s an easy walk to the city centre, which is all you can ask for. The pool is great for relaxing, though it can get busy in the late afternoon. By far Olbia’s most modern, international hotel.

The people made this stay especially enjoyable. Mario in the restaurant and Daniela at reception were both attentive, kind, and professional. The hotel itself felt welcoming, and our room was comfortable and very clean. I had a wonderful time and would gladly come back.
