Jazz Hotel

We checked in with our family around 9 pm after arriving late at Olbia airport. Walking over was easy, with sidewalks the whole way. The restaurant was still open, but it felt like a bit much for us, so we picked up snacks at the Lidl across the street. We'd booked the family suite, which had a king bed and a pull-out sofa. The bed was very firm, and the bathroom was nicely designed. In the morning we ate breakfast downstairs, then went to the pool. You need to ask reception for towels, and the pool opens at 9. I didn't use the Turkish baths because they need 30 minutes' notice to switch on. Fine for a one-night stay.

The beds and pillows could have been a little more comfortable, but everything else made for a great stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast had plenty of fresh, tasty choices. The hotel is stylishly designed and just a few minutes from the airport, with free parking, which was a big plus. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and made check-in and the rest of our stay easy.

The hotel feels old and out of date, and didn't look like the Booking.com photos. It was far from what I expected of a four-star place and felt falsely advertised. Things went downhill after I extended my stay. The reception staff were rude, lazy and inconsistent about their own rules. On the first night, I used the steam room at 21:30 without a problem. The next evening, I asked around 21:00, but the receptionist refused to turn it on because she didn't feel like it. She said I could go in the morning, even though she knew I was checking out that day. Later that evening she changed her mind and said I could use it in 15 minutes. But when I asked the next morning before breakfast, just as she'd promised, she refused again because I was checking out. The whole thing felt unbelievably unprofessional. Trying to book a third night was another mess. They tried to charge me too much, even though I'd found a valid rate online and my booking was still valid. The hotel called me five times in a row during an important business meeting with my company directors, ignoring that I was working. Their response was, “we're also working.” I asked them to hold the room temporarily and said I'd pay right away if the booking didn't go through, but they refused. It took over 2.5 hours to sort out. They kept pushing me to pay again at the hotel or check out, and in the end I had to pay again at reception. At 10:00 they even blocked my room key while my booking was still valid, so I couldn't get into my room. Completely unacceptable and disrespectful. I also saw what looked like unequal treatment. Other guests were allowed to check out late, but I was firmly told to leave by 11:00. The service was chaotic, disrespectful and unprofessional, and the staff seemed to show favoritism and discrimination. It was a terrible stay from start to finish. The place felt overpriced, misrepresented online and run without any respect for guests or sense of customer service. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and would strongly advise others to avoid it.

The location was convenient, with the city centre a five-minute drive away, a mall about 15 minutes on foot and Lidl across the street for water or snacks. The pool facilities were decent, though the so-called Turkish hamam wasn't really Turkish, just two beds indoors where you can sit, with a shower unit. Our room was boiling when we arrived in September, with the weather around 30 degrees. The air conditioning couldn't be set to the temperature we wanted. Reception first said someone had fixed it while we were out, but it hadn't been fixed. Then we were told the room temperature was controlled centrally and couldn't be set below 22. I tried to get them to let me control it from the room, but they refused. One fan barely helped, so we asked for a second and spent five days in scorching heat. The other reason this only gets two stars is the dusty floor. I walked barefoot, then saw all the dust my feet had picked up when I went into the shower. I asked the cleaners to mop, but they never did. Apart from that, they were helpful and brought me lots of pillows when I asked.
