Mercure Olbia Hotel & SPA

The gym was excellent, but I’d avoid the hotel if possible. The rooms are worn, the furniture is old, and there’s no air conditioning. Ours faced a busy highway and sat between 27 and 26.4 degrees Celsius. The front desk said all the other guests wanted their rooms even warmer, so they’d switched to heating only. We could open the window, but then there was the road noise and hundreds of mosquitoes. The location isn’t very nice. The city center is close, but not pleasant to reach on foot because you have to cross some bad areas. We took a taxi at night for safety.

The spa was very clean, with a jacuzzi, hammam, heated pool with jets, sauna, and cold bath. Access cost €25 for 1h30, which seemed reasonable, and my €70 massage for 50 min was excellent. The gym was free and very well equipped. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and everyone spoke English. The hotel was very clean too, with daily room cleaning and regular towel changes. But the building isn’t well soundproofed, and breakfast-area noise made it impossible to sleep properly in the morning. Breakfast was €15 per person, mostly industrial products, and the bedding wasn’t very comfortable. The pool bar was closed during my stay. Reception said lunch and dinner were available, but the restaurant stayed closed the whole time I was there.

The restaurant was a real highlight. The food was amazing, especially the tartar, and the drinks were tasty too. The lighting gave the place a great feel for couples. Breakfast was quite nice, with plenty to choose from. Our room was spacious and very clean, though we did have a problem with the door. It’s a good place to spend a few days and eat well. Just be careful in the tight underground parking.

The room was nice and the bed comfortable, so the stay was pleasant overall. Breakfast got repetitive, with the same limited choices each day and not many hot dishes or vegetables. The shower and toilet also weren’t in the best condition, and the bathroom could use renovation.
