Residence Monte Maiore

The breakfast service was all over the place. Orders went missing, and three times my tea came as plain hot water with no tea bag. Lol. The harbour peninsula is a great spot, but the rooms cost too much for what you get from a supposed 5-star hotel. The pool wasn't open at the start of the season, and after it did open, weddings or private parties sometimes meant guests couldn't use it.

We got no apology or other gesture after a frustrating stay, which was disappointing for a 5-star hotel. The room next door had a dog barking all night, so we couldn't sleep. We'd booked a sea-view room but were given one facing the garden. When we arrived at 1 AM, neither the card nor the regular key worked, and it took 30 minutes to sort out. The hotel does have a lot going for it, especially its amazing location and the pool with direct access to the sea.

Spacious rooms and a really nice pool. The staff were great, and I'd highly recommend a stay at Hotel sporting.

The location is nice, with public beaches nearby and plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance beyond the marina. Some nights there was music in the main hotel area, and the room was very clean. The air conditioning worked well, and they did a nice job with daily room cleaning and turn-down service. The water-view rooms have breathtaking views, which is what you're paying for, since the rooms themselves are small. Breakfast was a decent buffet, but it was exactly the same each day and had only a couple of hot items. I sometimes waited 30 minutes for coffee. Lunch and dinner felt overpriced even for the area, including a €20 Negroni. Walking 5-10 minutes to the marina gets you food and drinks for half the price. Some staff were helpful and very nice, while others weren't so much.
