Castello Dal Pozzo Resort Lago Maggiore - Preferred Hotels & Resorts

There’s not much to do beyond the castle grounds, but staying here is an experience I’d recommend trying at least once. The pool is open in late spring and summer, and there are activities like biking and Motocross. Inside, the rooms retain their original style and the service is impeccable. Le Fief serves delicious food, with an exquisite dining experience that’s still fairly priced for a 5* hotel. The barkeeper knows their stuff and can make drinks to suit your personal taste. The castle has a lovely atmosphere and the stay feels unique.

The castle and gardens are beautiful, the pool is great, and breakfast was good. But we came hoping for a peaceful resort, and for reasons I don’t know, a gymnastics competition was held there with extremely loud music. It could be heard everywhere from 6pm until 11pm. At 330 per night, when you’re trying to get away from busy city life, that’s not what you expect. We raised it at reception, but they offered no solution, as if that was just how things were. The staff seemed new and a bit chaotic.

I want to alert future guests to a serious concern. Shortly after I made my reservation, my personal details seem to have ended up with scammers. I booked through Hotel.com, and I have dozens of other reservations, so I don’t think the leak came from there. The callers and people messaging me on WhatsApp knew my full name, email address, phone number, booking details, and even my stay dates. Since then, I’ve received several calls and messages asking for extra payments connected to the reservation. I contacted the hotel, and they confirmed they know about the problem. They said there is little they can do, and the scam attempts are still ongoing. The hotel itself may be fine, but guests’ personal and booking information should be protected. This has left me very worried about data security. Be extremely cautious if you get an unexpected payment request after booking.

Our wedding at Castello dal Pozzo in August turned into an unforgettable weekend. The location felt like a dream, a real fairytale for us, and the food was amazing. Everything went smoothly throughout the year of planning, too. Stefano did an amazing job and was professional, easy to work with, and never complicated. The whole staff was incredibly friendly and put in so much effort. We can’t wait to come back for our anniversaries.
