The room, bathroom, setting and view were all excellent, and the little dog who kept us company was the sweetest part of the stay. I called her 'Stella della Letizia.. 🥰' Breakfast was pretty underwhelming, though. I’d read plenty of good reviews, so maybe the place’s change-of-season routine is working by now. We had only our last two nights in Sardinia here, and it started oddly. The hostess was talking on her phone when we arrived, then held it in front of me so I could read: “This is the room. The gate must be closed at all times. I give you remote control for it. There is no diner, you have to go to restaurant.” I answered, “Buonasera, sono Christian i questo è Patrik.” I learned her name was Maria, and joked that she seemed like a half-powered service robot because high season hadn’t started and her functions were on minimum. The worst part came at 5 a.m. We wanted to drive to the sea for a sunrise time lapse. The sky looked promising, with stars and a few clouds, but the gate wouldn’t open. The remote’s blue light came on, so we aimed it at everything, even ants and birds. I was furious. At least the gate had worked the night before when we returned from dinner, or the car might have been stuck outside. Maria came down and tried the remote too, pointing it around at ants and all. Her remote worked almost right away. She handed it to me and took the other one to change its batteries, even though its light worked. I figured I’d be closing that gate myself every time we left. One more thing, the driveway is steep and mostly unpaved. The replacement remote only worked close to the gate, so I stopped and Patrik got out to close it. That was a mistake. My automatic, front-wheel-drive car could reverse, but when I tried, it smelled like the clutch had melted down. 😅
