Agriturismo Archelao

We only stayed a short time, but really enjoyed it. The farm setting is beautiful and peaceful, just outside town without being too far away. The food was absolutely delicious, and the rooms were very spacious and spotless.

The breakfast was the letdown. For two people, we got just 3 slices of cheese, 2 slices of ham, and 2 slices of very salty salami, with the rest being high-carb cakes. Neither of us eats that kind of thing for breakfast. If you like a sweet breakfast, you may be fine with it, but for an Agriturismo that sells its own farm products, and compared with other Agriturismo stays in Sardegnia, it really needs improvement. The rooms themselves were good, spacious enough, clean, and had comfortable beds. We didn't eat dinner there because we prefer to go out and try places. It could work well as a short base in Oristano, or as a stop on the way north to Sardegnia.

We went for the fixed menu, which was 30 Euro per person, and there was plenty: starters, first and second courses, dessert, and mirto, the Sardinian liquor. It was great value, and we took home what we couldn't finish for an amazing lunch the next day. A local friend recommended the place. She'd worked there for 8 years and knew it inside out. The food uses genuine local products made there themselves. Before dinner, leave time to walk around the grounds and see the farm animals for yourself. They seem to be treated very well.

The kids had a great time with all the animals, and dinner was really nice, with the full Italian run of anti pasti, primi, secondi, and dolci. Our room was okay, and the small beds were just about fine. There’s air conditioning only in the master bedroom. It’s a great farm stay for families with kids.
